Swisscom Radio Spectrum
Swisscom has a large proportion of the Swiss mobile network spectrum which they use to provide an extremely high quality experience.
800MHz (B20)
Swisscom has 2x10MHz of 800MHz, which is all used for 4G, of EARFCN 6300.
900MHz (B8)
900MHz is used for 2G and up to two 3G carriers: UARFCN 3050 and 3071.
1800MHz (B3)
Swisscom use 1800MHz for their main 4G carrier of EARFCN 1301 and 2G or a second carrier on EARFCN 1445.
2100MHz (B1)
With so much 2100MHz, Swisscom have a 20MHz carrier as 4G, EARFCN 203 and two 3G carriers: 10713, 10737.
2600MHz (B7)
Swisscom operate a single 20MHz carrier on 2600MHz, of EARFCN 3100.
2600MHz (B38)
Not currently used.
Quad and Penta Carrier Aggregation Sites: UG09, UL21, L08, L18, L26
Quad carrier aggreagation sites form the urban base layer. With 70MHz of LTE bandwidth, superb performance can be had.
Basel Example
A Swisscom quad 4G carrier site in Basel. Single low band Kathrein antennas for 08/09 diplexed and dual high band Kathreins for 18/21/26. Field test screenshot shows excellent performance. Ericsson base station equipment is visible
Bern: Swisscom Ey 8
This site has similar spectrum to the Basel example above but has a number of Ericsson Radio System (ERS) Units visible. This site is capable of 4T4R operation on band(s). The upper, heavily downtilted, antenna are dual low band Kathrein for 800MHz and 900MHz. The lower antennas are triple high band Kathreins with four ports in use for 1800, 2100 and 2600MHz.
Lucerne
Much like the example above but using dual high band Kathrein antennas.
Triple Carrier Aggregation Sites: UG09, UL21, L08, L18
Triple carrier sites with 50MHz LTE bandwidth form Swisscom's base laer in much of the country.
14 Port Kathrein Antennas
A modern example using 14 port Kathrein antennas. ERS Visible.
Triple High and Dual Low Kathrein Antennas
Almost indentical to the Bern example above but without B7 2600MHz.
Dual High and Dual Low Kathrein Antennas
Almost indentical to the Basel example above but without B7 2600MHz.
A lot of diplexing!
A dual band Kathrein antenna carrying 08/09 diplexed and 18/21 diplexed. A range of MHAs, Diplexors and ERS visible.
Dual Carrier Aggregation sites
Kathrein Dual Band antennas
Kathrein Dual Band antennas and Ericsson MHAs visible. GL18 and UL21, no low band but still 40MHz LTE.
Swisscom Microcell: L18, L21
L18 and L21 on these microcells. With the cross eNB CA that Swisscom supports, it was possible to use these in 3CA/4CA.
Swisscom Basel Office
Same antennas and radiation as Swisscom Bern Office B7 example
